AI tools for marketing teams

Most of what marketing teams buy is a general creation tool with a brand-governance layer bolted on. A few things here are genuinely marketing-shaped.

Data last refreshed 2026-07-23

Asset machines versus operations software

There are two kinds of tool on this page and conflating them wastes money. The first kind makes marketing assets: ad creative, product photography, short-form video cutdowns, landing copy. The second kind runs marketing work: brand governance, SEO briefs, outbound calling, meeting capture on sales calls. This index skews heavily toward the first.

That skew is worth stating plainly because the pitch decks blur it. A video generator with a "for marketers" page is still a video generator. Whether it belongs in your stack depends on whether your bottleneck is producing assets or deciding what to produce.

The genuinely marketing-shaped entries are the ones with governance in them — brand voice enforcement, terminology control, approval flow, compliance checks. Those are the ones that survive contact with a legal team.

What carries this tag

  • Creative production aimed at campaigns: ad variants, product shots, social cutdowns, avatar spokespeople.
  • Copy tools with brand-voice or compliance controls, not just a blank prompt box.
  • Search and content-brief tooling built around ranking rather than drafting.
  • Outbound and inbound voice agents used for qualification and follow-up.
  • Analytics platforms and ad-buying automation are out of scope for this index.

Which categories these come from

28 of 35 are free or freemium, 7 are paid only.

The top 12, ranked

Ranked on AI Score, then adjusted for how recently the tool shipped, whether it is an editor's pick, and what readers actually open — so a strong recent release can edge out a slightly higher score. Every entry shows what it is good for and what it costs you, including the parts the vendor leads away from.

The questions that decide it

Does it enforce brand, or just suggest it

A style guide in a prompt is not governance. Look for terminology enforcement, banned-phrase lists, and approval steps that a non-marketer cannot route around.

Cost per usable asset, not per month

Divide the plan price by how many outputs you would actually ship. On generative video that ratio is frequently ugly, and it is the only number that matters at campaign scale.

Where it sits in the existing stack

CRM writeback, DAM integration, webhook support. A tool that cannot push its output into the system your team already lives in becomes a copy-paste tax.

Who is accountable for the claims

Generated ad copy will happily assert things about your product that are not true. Somebody has to own the review step, and the tool should make that step exist.

What none of this fixes

  • Positioning. Every tool here operates downstream of knowing what you are selling and to whom, and none of them will tell you.
  • Volume-first SEO content is now a liability rather than a shortcut. Search engines have spent two years specifically targeting it, and this site runs the scars to prove it.
  • Vendor-reported lift numbers are marketing about marketing. Treat any conversion-rate claim on a vendor site as unverified until you have your own before-and-after.
